With the start of summer just around the corner, we’ve decided to dedicate this blog (and others to come!)  to some the best music, arts, culture, and events that come to life throughout the summer season at Lake Tahoe.  We’ll start this blog with some of the family favorites and continue the list later this month.

Music on the Beach

FRIDAYS Starting June 1
Kings Beach Recreation Area
Listen to FREE live music performances that feature a variety of genres on the beautiful North Shore of Lake Tahoe. Brought to you by the North Tahoe Business Association, concerts take place at Kings Beach State Recreation Area and start at 6:30 pm. Local craft brewery, Alibi Ale Works draft beer, wine, and soda are available for purchase.

Truckee Thursdays

THURSDAYS, JUNE 9 to AUG. 8
Downtown Truckee
5:00 to 8:30 p.m.
Thursday is the evening to head to downtown Truckee. Enjoy local food vendors, merchant, and community booths, as well as musical performances, kids’ activities, and a beer garden.

Truckee Brew Fest

SATURDAY, JUNE 10
Truckee Regional Park
1:00 – 5:00 p.m.
This fun event is an annual fundraiser to support programs, sponsorships, grants, and scholarships for the youth of Truckee. Make it a full afternoon to get to know our great local breweries and their finest beers on draft, and live music from Drop Theory.

Thunderbird Paddling Festival

JUNE 10
Sand Harbor State Park

tart from the sandy Sand Harbor Beach and head south along the shore keeping the buoys to your left. At the 4-mile mark, round the final buoy and paddle the quickest course you can to the finish line. Along the way pass by the Thunderbird Lodge, and the spectacular shoreline.

Reno Rodeo

It’s the wildest, richest, Rodeo in the West and it’s a must not miss every summer. Events include bareback riding, steer wrestling, saddle bronco riding, team roping, tie-down roping, mutton bustin’, and barrel racing.

Celebrate Independence Day with one of the top fireworks displays in America wrapped with parades, tributes to veterans, concerts, chalk drawings, rubber ducky races, food, and more.

Tahoe Donner’s biggest event of the year returns Saturday and Sunday, July 1 and 2! Tickets are on sale now and will sell out. Saturday will feature tributes to Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen and Sunday will feature tributes to Steely Dan and a 70s, 80s and 90s cover band.

Truckee Tahoe Airshow & Family Festival 

SATURDAY, JULY 8

One of the region’s most family-friendly events features a breathtaking air show with world renowned performers, a STEM Expo, family festival, and much more. All proceeds go directly to Truckee/North Lake Tahoe youth organizations.

Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival 
JULY 8 – AUG. 27

7:30 p.m.
Admire the sunset from the East Shore of Lake Tahoe while Shakespeare’s works come alive on the stage. This year features Love’s Labour’s Lost and The Hound of The Baskervilles.

Reno Jazz Orchestra Presents “Roots in the Blues”
JULY 31

7:30 p.m.
The RJO’s 17-piece jazz band will share the stage with a "Tour de Force” performance of the many shades of blue. Both “Roots in the Blues” shows will be wrapped with songs, swing, and soul with tunes from where the blues began to great big band interpretations of Count Basie and Duke Ellington.  From there it is off to the world of rock, funk, rhythm and blues, and a little twist of country, too.
