72-Mile Lake Tahoe Clean-up Underway

Throughout our news postings we always like to share the good news about life in Lake Tahoe. And this post is no exception. At this very moment, volunteers from all over the region are investing their personal time to clean up the lake, IN the lake.

Within a story that was published on the TahoeFund.org website, they shared the specifics of this phenomenal task.

"On Friday, May 14th, the Clean Up The Lake team hit the water for the first day of the 72-Mile SCUBA clean up of Lake Tahoe. To mark the special occasion, Edgewood Tahoe Resort hosted the first dive at the stateline. Opening day saw support from local, regional, and even international news outlets."

"The project was primarily funded by contributions raised by the Tahoe Fund from over 135 businesses and people passionate about the cause. The fundraising campaign launched in December 2020 with an initial $100,000 match offered by Tahoe Blue Vodka, the project’s presenting sponsor, which was quickly followed by a $25,000 donation from Vail Resorts. Additional funding was also provided by Nevada Lake Tahoe License Plate proceeds and other grant giving foundations."

The significance of this program has reached news outlets all over the USA.
