Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival on Tap This Summer

If you have never experienced a night under the stars, with the stars, at Sand Harbor – Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park make plans now to clear your schedule for a summer full of entertainment on the edge of Lake Tahoe. 

And with the spectacular venue of Sand Harbor just a short drive from our real estate and vacation rental company in Incline Village, NV, there’s no reason this summer season to miss out on some of the best arts and cultural events in the USA.

From July 5 through August 25^th, the festival offers a full line-up of talent that starts at 7:30 p.m.  We always like to go early and enjoy the delicacies of Shakespeare’s Kitchen – locally operated by our friends at Brimm’s catering service.  Or, you can always bring a picnic as you prepare for evenings you won’t forget wrapped by some of the scenic sights on the planet.

The Festival’s 47th season is headlined by productions of The Taming of the Shrew, Shakespeare’s uproarious battle of the sexes, and Million Dollar Quartet, a Tony-winning rock ‘n’ roll tribute.

According to the festival’s media release, “The Taming of the Shrew will be directed by Sara Bruner and Million Dollar Quartet will be helmed by Hunter Foster. The productions will be performed in rotating repertory Tuesdays through Sundays at 7:30 p.m.

”They also did an excellent job providing the highlights of this acclaimed work of William Shakespeare” 

“The only thing that stands between Bianca and a bevy of eligible suitors is her quick-tempered, elder sister Katherina in The Taming of the Shrew. That is until fortune-hunting Petruchio takes up the challenge to “tame” Kate and make her his wife. A madcap marriage and much mayhem ensues in a beguiling battle of wits and wills between the sexes which ultimately reveals an unlikely romance. Can love tame a shrewish heart and surprise an unbridled bachelor?

Each year the Festival switches things up throughout the summer with another performance to complete their organizations’ annual offerings.  This year it’s the presentation of the Million Dollar Quartet.

“Audiences will step back in time in Million Dollar Quartet to December 4, 1956, when Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley fatefully found themselves together in a Memphis recording studio. The historic rock ‘n’ roll jam session that resulted was electrifying. This irresistible tale of broken promises, secrets and celebrations – which boasts powerhouse performances and an incredible score of rock ‘n’ roll, R&B and country hits, including “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Fever,” “Walk the Line,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On,” “Hound Dog” and more will set Sand Harbor rockin’.”
