Thanks to the recent snowfall, those of you who have made a resolution to try your talent at snowboarding or skiing, or refine your turns, you are in luck! And especially this month.

Throughout the nation, it's National Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month! And right here in our backyard, our friends at Diamond Peak are ready to welcome you to the sports that we know and love.

Not sure what's right for you?

100% GUARANTEE

On Diamond Peak's website, they have an excellent section, complete with videos, that show you and tell you what to expect in every lesson that they offer. And check this out: they have a 100% Guarantee! If they do not address your personal needs in a lesson, they will give you another lesson at no charge.

Before we introduce you to all the options that await you and yours, here's a good recap that we have borrowed from their site about what to wear.

WHAT TO WEAR TO A SKI OR SNOWBOARD LESSON

Weather can change rapidly in the mountains so layering is your best option instead of wearing one big bulky jacket. As you get warmer or colder, you can add or take off layers. Wear water-resistant gloves, a wool hat, and snow pants. Avoid wearing jeans and other cotton materials. Cotton absorbs water and once wet becomes a poor insulator!

Wear eye protection such as goggles or sunglasses. Not only do they protect your eyes from sun glare, but they shield your eyes from the wind and therefore prevent irritation. Bring sunscreen, lip balm, and skin moisturizers. The sun reflects off the snow during cloudy and sunny days!

WHAT ABOUT EQUIPMENT?

Start early and head to the Rental Shop. They will get you started for your first day on skis or a snowboard. For kid's lessons (ages 3-6) do not go to the Rental Shop, please go directly to the Child Ski & Ride Center to check-in.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT LESSON LEVEL

Our team at Sun Bear Realty and Vacation Rentals in Incline Village learn anything better if we can 'see it to believe it." Thankfully, the creative staff at the Peak has done their research and posted YouTube videos that simply explain lots of the basics of the sports. We encourage you to click into the videos below.

And when you are ready to cross that resolution off your list, give us a call or visit our large list of vacation rentals close to the slopes!

See you there!
