Nevada, the silver state. Overshadowed by the famous California gold rush, Nevada goes unrecognized to having one of the richest deposits of minerals and precious metals in the world. Nevada produces more than 75% of the gold in the US. So much in fact that if Nevada was its own country, it would be the 5th largest producer in the world. With 33 active metal mines, Nevada produced 4.8 million ounces of gold and 6.2 million ounces of silver in 2019.
